Agger Relishing League Return
Danish center back Daniel Agger played his first game for Liverpool after being on the sidelines for 10 months due to a metatarsal injury against Tranmere Rovers in a pre-season friendly which ended 1-0 thanks to a Yossi Benayoun volley.
The 23-year-old had been frustrated after missing most of last season, and now needs to impress Rafa Benitez to get into the first team, after Martin Skrtel took his place in the team, and it looks unlikely he would be dropped.
However, the commanding defender says he is ready for the Premier League, and wants to mount a serious title challenge next season.
He said: “I am delighted to be back, this has been the most frustrating time of my career, I have just had to look forward, concentrate, and work hard to get myself back to fitness.
“This season ahead is now all-important to me. I have missed so much football over the past year that I feel I am almost starting my career at Liverpool all over again.
“Now I am really focused on this season, I am ready. I have been working hard right through the summer to get myself fit for this level of football.” he added.
